Cycling Merit Badge

Troop 41 will be working on the Cycling Merit Badge this summer and fall. It is one of the Eagle Scout required badges among hiking and swimming. Scouts will be going on one bike ride per month starting in July through October and then again in Spring 2018. The Scouts will finish with a 50-mile ride that must be completed within 8 hours! Some scouts already completed the 15-mile ride during the Campout at Starved Rock. Other rides will be along the Fox River Trail and during Campouts. The bike trails will be paved. Participating scouts will need to have a helmet and bike in good condition with gears. Single-gear bikes will be very difficult to ride for these distances and terrains.
