Fox Metro Tour

Thanks to Mr. Odean for an awesome tour of the Fox Metro Water Reclamation District. We learned all about how water is treated and given a second chance. We also learned not to flush "flushable" wipes. The flushable wipes don't break down and they can clog the system. Another thing we learned is not to pour grease or cooking oil down the drain. Instead use paper towels to soak up small amounts of oil and grease and place them in a plastic bag to throw away with the regular trash.

For large amounts of cooking oil (such as from deep fat fryers and turkey fryers), S.C.A.R.C.E. (School & Community Assistance for Recycling & Composting Education) has a program to collect used cooking oil at various locations.  The used cooking oil will be converted into biofuel.  More information can be found below and on their website.
