Camping Areas in Illinois


Camp Lowden is a 252-acre, heavily wooded camp located 7 miles south of Oregon, Illinois, along the east bank of the Rock River. Camp Lowden features twelve large rustic camp sites. Each site is ina most complete isolation because of the hilly terrain and the thick stand of trees."

Canyon Camp is located approximately 8 miles northwest of Stockton, Illinois in Apple River Canyon. Canyon Camp features 10 secluded camp sites which are situated on the canyon ridge. In the center of the canyon floor sits the parade field and the large round dining hall.

Facilities include 6 Heated Cabins with restrooms, showers & kitchens; Swimming Pool, Year-round indoor pool for up to 150 people; Athletic Fields: Baseball, Vollyball (x3) Soccer, Basketball, Horseshoes; Education Hall/Chapel with Meeting or Activity Space 5 Campsites: 1 Fully-accessible, 2 with tents set up in the summer, 18 warm weather sites, and 2 winter sites.

Located 4 miles west of Deerfield, IL on Portwine Rd., south of Lake Cook Rd. and north of Dundee Rd. Approximately 80 acres of wooded and open land (two grassy fields). Facilities include 2-water pumps, several laterines, hiking trails, tent campsites, and 6 cabins with capacities of up to 36. Total cabin capacity for all six cabins is 156 people.

Camp Lakota -- a private wilderness preserve for Scout Camping. Set in the rolling hills of McHenry County, near Woodstock, Illinois, Camp Lakota is part untimbered forest of ancient out trees and part reclaimed farmland and apple orchard. Several acres of natural wetlands separate the large forest tracts. Professionally landscaped unit sites are well placed to the central activity areas.

Camp Big Timber is one of the scouting facilities of the Three Fires Council, located just west of Elgin, Illinois. Big Timber has offered for many years a resident camping program. Big Timber is located on the site of a former long-term Boy Scout Camp. Access to swimming and boating, and hiking through the wooded trails, provide just some of the highlights of a stay at Camp Big timber.

Camp Freeland Leslie is located outside of Oxford, Wisconsin near the Wisconsin Dells. Camp Freeland Leslie (CFL) is one of the premier patrol cooking camps in the Central Region. The 500-plus acre property allows for a wide variety of Scouting opportunities, involving Scouts from the first years camper throughout the experience youth seeking a high adventure program in conjunction with his unit's stay at resident camp. The emphasis at CFL is on the patrol, weather in the campsite as part of patrol cooking, or through the development of personal and group initiative through the C.O.P.E program. Program opportunities extend well beyond the merit badge program and well after dinner. Something is available for Scouts of all interested at any time of the day.

The TFC Ranch is located approximately 10 miles northwest of Rochelle, IL. TFC offers a variety of camping experiences ranging from camping in an open field to camping in deep timber areas, to camping along the Pike River, to camping on a bluff above the river. Facilities include several latrines and two cabins(capacity 30 people each) for winter camping.

Ingersoll Summer Camp is located approximately 45 miles west of Peoria, Illinois off of Rte. 116. Some 960 acres of rolling, wooded Illinois countryside offers each Scout the opportunity to practice his Scouting skills in the best possible outdoor laboratory.
